Dolphins holding private workout for Troy DT

The Miami Dolphins, like the other 31 teams in the NFL, are preparing for the upcoming 2023 draft with the goal of finding players who can help them win games.

With the draft just two weeks away, the Dolphins are meeting with individual prospects, including Troy defensive tackle Shakel Brown, according to Aaron Wilson.

At 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, Brown impressed with his athleticism at his pro day when he ran a 4.82-second 40-yard dash and 33-inch vertical leap, which would’ve been tied for second at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He played three seasons at Troy, recording 59 total tackles (eight for a loss), 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

When it comes to the Dolphins, they look great on the defensive line, as Christian Wilkins, Zach Sieler and Raekwon Davis are all set to return for 2023 and play in the interior. However, all three are set to be free agents after the season, so Miami may be looking for some potential replacements after the year.

Brown could come in and learn from a great group for a year and then take on a bigger role in 2024 if someone were to leave.
