Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced Tuesday that shortstop Gavin Lux suffered a torn ACL and he will miss the 2023 season. After the news broke, Lux took to Twitter with a message.
“Just wanted to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers, means more than you know!” he said in a tweet.
Lux suffered the injury on Monday when it appeared his knee buckled during a spring training game while running to third base and he was eventually carted off the field. He led the National League in triples last season with seven and slashed .276/.346/.399 in his fourth season in the bigs. He also tallied 42 RBIs and six home runs.
He played 102 games at second base, 28 at left field and nine at shortstop last season. With the departure of Trea Turner, Lux appeared set to finally play his old position again, but he will have to wait another year now.
The 25-year-old will look to get back on track in 2024.
