Doctor advises hay fever sufferers to avoid drug as she warns it causes drowsiness

A doctor is urging allergy sufferers to act with caution when using one specific form of antihistamines which she claims causes drowsiness.

While antihistamines provide relief for hay fever sufferers experiencing symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and itchy, watery eyes, drowsiness is often an unwelcome side effect.

Dr Sophie Farooque, an NHS allergy consultant and clinical lead, appeared on Morning Live on BBC on Wednesday to explain the different medications.
