An elderly NHS doctor who lied about his age and killed a mother-of-three in a botched routine procedure while her husband begged him to stop has been jailed for three years.
Dr Isyaka Mamman was 81 when he carried out a 'highly dangerous procedure' on Shahida Parveen, 48, in which he pierced the sac containing her heart while trying to extract bone marrow from her sternum.
Mamman, now 85, had already been suspended once by medical watchdogs and was sacked - but then re-employed by the Royal Oldham Hospital, where he was responsible for a series of critical incidents.
