DeVonta Smith wants you to know he doesn’t care about your fantasy team

If you’re a fantasy football manager, drafting DeVonta Smith as a potential top-two wide receiver seemed like a pretty good idea at the start of the season.

He was coming off a really solid rookie campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles, even as quarterback Jalen Hurts struggled with accuracy, and the team added A.J. Brown as a complimentary weapon in the offense. With improved play from Hurts, it was reasonable to expect a leap in his standing as the 30th best fantasy wideout.

But even as the QB play has drastically improved, Smith’s fantasy numbers haven’t. And he’s apparently been hearing about it. So Smith took a minute after Thursday night’s win over the Houston Texans to address it.

And that’s that. He doesn’t care about your fantasy team, as if there was ever a chance he did.

Life is good for Smith and the Eagles. They’re an NFL-best 8-0 and they hold the best Super Bowl odds of any NFC team (+500 at BetMGM).

After catching two passes for 22 yards on Thursday, Smith has 442 yards and two touchdowns on the season. That makes him the 35th-ranked fantasy receiver, according to FantasyPros, which actually matches where he was being drafted.

But if you were hoping for a steal, he hasn’t been that.

Though Smith has gotten the second-most targets on the Eagles, his production trails both Brown and tight end Dallas Goedert, who each rank in the top 10 at their positions in fantasy. Don’t bother complaining to him, though. He doesn’t care.
