Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a sensational Celtic return after club supremo Dermot Desmond personally made two phone calls in his bid to land his man, according to a report.
We previously told how chief executive Michael Nicolson and Chris McKay jetted out to Mallorca at the weekend to meet with the former Liverpool and Leicester City boss after Desmond persuaded him to meet the duo for face to face talks as the search for Ange Postecoglou's successor ramps up.
The 57-year-old quit Parkhead after two seasons for a crack at the English Premier League with Tottenham and signed off on the ultimate high with a Scottish Cup win over Inverness at Hampden securing a Treble and making it five trophies out of six during his two seasons.

Rodgers enjoyed huge success during his own time in charge first time around and the Daily Record report that Desmond has held two telephone conversations with the 50-year-old and asked him to consider cutting short his planned year long break from the game to make a sensational return to Glasgow.
Nicholson and McKay are said to have followed up the chat with a presentation outling the current situation behind the scenes and making clear the ambitions to make Celtic a more competitive team in the Champions League. Rodgers has now been given the chance to consider the prospect of a return to the east end for the new campaign.
The same report states Rodgers has rejected similar approaches from at least two EPL outfits since his exit from the King Power - but he has found it much more difficult to say no to Celtic's advances.
John Kennedy's future has been one in the headlines with Postecoglou keen to take the long-serving Celtic coach to North London but it is claimed Rodgers has made it clear he would want the No2 to remain at the club as part of his team.
The duo enjoyed a close working bond during Rodgers' first spell and that could keep him in the building and turn down Ange and Spurs if he is confirmed as the new man in the hot seat.
