Derek McInnes has confirmed Dan Neil is Rangers' vice-captain while explaining his five changes for Jagiellonia Bialystok.

One was enforced with Ben Godfrey ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury. Ross McCrorie comes into the XI in his place to play at right-back, with Dujon Sterling moving in one.

Tochi Chukwuani and Dan Neil come into the midfield, the latter wearing the armband, while new signing Daisuke Yokota starts on the right wing and Youssef Chermiti leads the line in place of Lawrence Shankland.

The other players to drop out are Cammy Devlin, Ryan Naderi and Djeidi Gassama.

Asked about his selection and specifically Yokota going straight in, McInnes said: "He gives us a quality player on that side which I like. There is a wee element of risk with it, I understand that.

"I have been banging on about trying to get that position nailed down, and now we have got him in the building. Let him have a go at it. For me, that helps us connect the game a wee bit better, and hopefully he gives us the quality that we want from that side as well. Someone who naturally wants to play from that side is very important.

"And we go a bit stiffer through the midfield. We recognise the strengths of them in there. They play with two sixes and a ten. It is important that we match up in there because a lot of their play comes through that midfield area. Thelo, as wee seen the other night, has that quality and hopefully we can get that support to Youssef centrally and from sides."

On Neil captaining the side for the evening, he added: "Lawrence is on the bench for this one. Again, we have got several players we can turn to. Dan is vice-captain and he will take the team out tonight."
