Denise Van Outen's split with long-term partner Eddie Boxshall was announced by the Celebrity Gogglebox star last month when Denise penned a short statement confirming the relationship was over after seven years together.
Now, an Instagram post by Eddie is being taken as a jibe at the former Big Breakfast host.
While Eddie, 47, is yet to speak out on the demise of their romance, one of his latest social media post suggests he felt 'lonely' during his time with the TV star.
The pair had starred together on Channel 4's Celebrity Gogglebox but split in January.
He appeared to make the brutal comment about their romance in a candid Instagram post, reported the Mirror.
He posted a picture of a post-it note baring a cryptic handwritten note to his story.
It read: "I'd rather be alone than with someone who makes me feel lonely".
Eddie then shared another message which said: "Due to personal reasons... I'm gonna focus on myself, my inner peace and what I'm going to eat later."
Denise was rumoured to have asked Eddie to leave their home last month.
The former couple had been planning to get married later this year.
However, the former Big Breakfast host joked in an interview with the Mirror weeks before her split was announced that she'd rather spend money on revamping her garden than a wedding.
Denise also let slip that Eddie had abandoned her on her birthday during lockdown as he claimed to spend the entire day buying gifts at a petrol station.
As they discussed the Queen's birthday, Denise shared: "'If I was having a birthday party and you missed it I'd have the right hump if you just weren't there. Actually, on my birthday you did go out!
"You went out the whole day. I spent my whole birthday pretty much alone and you went out to try and find me a present in lockdown when all the shops were shut."
Eddie hit back: "The garages were open though weren't they? I got you a de-icing mitt and some travel bits', while Denise added: 'And a pizza tray!"
Last month, Denise's short statement confirmed via social media that they had split up.
She wrote: "It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple. I had to make the difficult decision not to continue our relationship."
