The extent of Alex de Minaur's rejuvenation will be put to the test in a crucial Davis Cup clash after Australia and Poland traded blows on day one of their must-win Brisbane tie.

The world No.9 got Australia ahead 1-0 with a 56-minute masterclass against world No.231 Maks Kasnikowski, before Kamil Majchrzak edged James Duckworth in a tense two-hour affair.
