DEHRADUN: A 64-year-old retired administrative officer of the state forest department was found murdered in his under-construction house in Dalanwala area of Dehradun on Saturday. Police registered a case on Saturday evening but are yet to ascertain the identity and motive of the accused.
According to police, the dead officer was identified as Surendra Kumar Jaiswal. He used to live alone in his house for the last 25 years, as his wife and daughter live separately in another house in Dehradun. He was stopped lying dead in his room on the second floor of the house by neighbors on Saturday. “The neighbors informed police and a team soon reached the spot. Police found him dead with a noose around his neck. He seemed to have been murdered,” said superintendent of police Dehradun (city) Sarita Dobhal.
Another police officer who was among the investigators, speaking anonymously, said, “A primary investigation suggests the accused was known to the victim. Also, no items were robbed. We suspect a property dispute.”
