Yesterday, it was announced that Scots singer Darius Campbell Danesh sadly passed away at age 41 after being found unresponsive in his apartment in Minnesota.
The Pop Idol star's family made a statement announcing the heartbreaking news of his passing on August 11. His cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Darius rose to fame when he appeared on singing show Popstars and then appeared on Pop Idol a year later, placing third behind Will Young and Gareth Gates.
The singer's tune Colourblind is currently topping the charts once again, and throughout his successful career as a singer and theatre performer, he enjoyed some high profile romances, writes The Mirror.
Before Jacqui Ainsley married Hollywood film director Guy Ritchie, she dated Darius for two years. The pair met in 2002 when she starred in the Colourblind music video.
After two years together, they decided to part ways due to conflicting work schedules. Despite their split, Darius said that he "adored her". Darius told the Daily Record after their split: "We loved each other when we broke up and that made it so painful because there was no third party involved.
"It was a very complex break up and I still adore her. But so much is going on in my life." Jacqui went on to marry Guy Ritchie in 2015 after meeting in 2010 – two years on from his divorce from Madonna. Darius then moved to the US and found love with Canadian actress Natasha Hanstridge in 2004. In 2011, Darius and the Species actress tied the knot at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
The pair didn't have any children but Darius enjoyed his role as a stepfather to Natasha's two sons Tristan River, 23, and Asher Sky, 21, who she shares with ex-husband Damian Chapa. However, the pair filed for divorce in 2013. And after a brief reconciliation in 2016, Darius and Natasha's divorce was finalised in 2018.
Speaking to the Scottish Herald after their split, Darius candidly revealed: "That relationship was certainly not without its ups and downs. Over the course of 12 years, we broke up many times and had a period of six months apart.
"It was often a long-distance relationship for half of it. That in itself was an amazing experience, but a painful one. When you love someone you want to be with them." Following the breakdown of his marriage, Darius enjoyed a brief romance with fashion model Daisy Lowe.
The pair were spotted enjoying a date in 2016 after being introduced by Daisy's dad Gavin Rossdale following Daisy's split from Thomas Cohen, Peaches Geldof's widower. He told The Sun on Sunday at the time: "There was a shift that happened a few months ago where we thought we'd go from friends to dating."
However, after enjoying a string of dates the pair decided to be friends as a representative for the Colourblind singer told the Daily Mail: "They were friends, and decided after a few dates that they were better off staying as just friends."
