One of the more anticipated mock drafts each offseason comes from NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah. The Network’s resident draft guru took over for Mike Mayock three years ago when Mayock became the Raiders General Manager.
Jeremiah put out his first Mock Draft for the 2022 NFL Draft today. And like several others, he has the Raiders going wide receiver with their selection at 22 overall. He has them going with Ohio State wide out Chris Olave.
Olave is going to run REALLY fast. The Raiders have had an obvious need for that element in their passing game since Henry Ruggs’ release in November. DeSean Jackson was a short-term fix.
Hard to call Jackson a “fix” of any kind, short-term or otherwise.
Ruggs was the team’s top pick in the 2020 draft and he was coming into his own early this past season, looking like the deep threat the offense needed. With him in prison on charges of DUI resulting in death, the Raiders must replace his role in the offense.
Jeremiah has Olave as the fourth receiver taken in his Mock Draft behind Treylon Burks, Drake London, and Garrett Wilson.
Olave has caught 175 passes for 2702 yards and 35 touchdowns over four seasons at Ohio State.
