Dallas Turner believes Bears defense would put him in position to succeed

The Chicago Bears are looking to improve their pass rush this offseason, and there are no shortage of options in the 2024 NFL draft.

Armed with two top-10 selections, Chicago is in a prime position to land a top edge rusher in this draft. That includes Alabama’s Dallas Turner, who had who had 11 sacks and 55 pressures last season.

During his media availability on Wednesday, Turner was asked about the potential to play with Chicago’s young, ascending defense, and he believes it’s a scheme that would allow him to shine.

“The Chicago Bears, their defense, from what I was seeing, their defense is built around the pass rush, so being a pass rusher on that team, you get a lot of freedom and opportunities,” Turner said, via NBC Sports Chicago.

Edge rusher is one of the team’s biggest needs this offseason. While they’ve found a star in Montez Sweat, who they acquired in a trade with the Washington Commanders last year, they’re missing a complement opposite him.

Outside of Sweat and DeMarcus Walker, there’s a lot to be desired at the defensive end position. There’s no doubt Turner would be an immediate candidate to start oppposite Sweat and give Chicago a formidable 1-2 punch off the edge.
