Dalbeattie Primary School Pupil Council planning event for King Charles III's Coronation

Dalbeattie Primary School Pupil Council is planning an event for the coronation weekend’s Big Help Out Day on May 8.

The event is partly a competition for the families of school children in Dalbeattie but also for the whole community to get involved in.

Ahead of the day, children’s families can opt into a competition to dress their house or garden for the coronation.

From the entries, a master walking map and quiz trail of the participating places will be compiled.

Then, on May 8, anyone can walk around the town to see the decorations and vote for their favourite.

Along the way people will also have to do at least one good deed. This could be a choice of donating an item to the foodbank, being sponsored to walk the route in aid of Dalbeattie First Responders or the RNLI or simply to pick up some litter along the way.

More details will be published nearer the time but for now the pupil council is hoping lots of families opt in to do the decorating part so that there is a varied walking map.

No one’s addresses will be published but participating homes and gardens will be indicated approximately on a basic street map.

Pupils who live outwith the town will have a way to take part too.

The event is hoped to be a fun activity building on community spirit by doing something to help along the way too.
