A Dalbeattie butcher has served up a sizzling success.
Scott Carson’s beef link sausages scooped the south west Scotland category in the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards.
Scott, who owns T H Carson, won the national title with the same product three years ago using a recipe that dates back to when his grandfather started the business in 1931.
He said: “It’s had a few tweaks down the years but it’s fundamentally the same, using only the finest locally sourced beef along with our special touches.
“It’s tremendous to be judged among the best in the country. It gives the whole team a real lift and a bit of extra pride in their work.
“The business is only as good as the team behind it and we’re lucky to have such dedicated and hard-working staff.”
It’s the latest success for Scott and his team of five as they have lifted national and regional awards for a variety of products over the years, including haggis and pork sausages.
The competition attracted a fine quality of entries from butchers across the country.
Scottish Craft Butchers president Tom Courts said: “It gives a butcher a great lift to know his products are judged to be among the best in Scotland and customers can be assured that the beef links they buy across the counter at T H Carson in Dalbeattie are exactly the same as those that secured the judges’ vote in the competition.”
“We congratulate Scott and his team on their success.”
