A dad claims he's captured an 'angel' watching over his family on his Ring doorbell - and believes it could be the spirit of his dead dad. Robert Mansfield was left stunned when partner Stephanie Scott, 31, showed him a clip of her and their son Oskar Scott returning from a dog walk.
As the pair approach their front door with Maltese and Pomeranian cross Klo a white mark appears in the night sky and drifts upwards until it disappears. In a viral Facebook post the 33-year-old claims he's 'caught a flying angel' on camera and even says its wings are visible as it flies above the street.
He's since revealed his family have had a 'tough time' since Klo, two, was attacked by another dog and lost an eye so the footage has brought them 'comfort'. Robert says he believes an angel is 'watching over them' and that it could be his deceased dad Mick Mansfield, who died aged 44 when Robert was just 14 years old.
The intriguing clip has earned almost 50,000 views and has split opinion, with some calling it 'beautiful' while others are convinced it's a reflection from seven-year-old Oskar's coat. The dad-of-three has brushed off the claims as he says he's 'researched' other times his son has worn the coat and the same white mark wasn't present on the footage.
Robert, from Beaumont Leys, Leicester, said: "We've had a tough time recently, so seeing something like that makes you think someone's out there watching out for you. We always say my dad is my kids' guardian angel so seeing something like that is heart-warming. It might be him.
"I've never experienced something like this before, it was amazing and it gave us comfort. When Stephanie showed me she asked if it's an angel because you can see the wings flapping.
"I told her it can't be because I'm not a huge believer in stuff like that, but when I looked into it I was really surprised and realised it could actually be something. People have said it's a reflection on the coat and I've done a bit of research. He's used that coats loads of times and nothing's ever come up on the doorbell camera like that. If you look closely the lights go bright and then when it disappears they go dull. That can't be a reflection."
Stephanie spotted the apparition while doing their regular checks of the doorbell camera. The dog walk was the first time Klo had been off their property since he was attacked by an intruding dog in his own garden.
"If you watch when she disappears off camera so does the reflection."
Another agreed and wrote: "That's the reflection off the boy's coat. A lot of footy lads wore these in the day as it affects cameras from capturing the faces of those offending."
