A man who broke a security worker’s arm in a prolonged drunken brawl at a pub was verbally abusing a table full of women prior to the fight, a court has heard.
Karl McDonald, 35, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday for one count of affray and another for assault after a pub brawl on July 17, 2021. CCTV shown in court showed the defendant and another man talking to a group of women sitting at a nearby table at the Liberty Tavern, Woolton.
Ben Berkson, prosecuting, said that during the interaction, McDonald verbally abused the women, calling them “bums”. A male security guard then approached the group to keep an eye on the situation, as a female member of staff tried to calm McDonald down.
