A cheat day on the new fad diet is more of a necessity that an option for many of us and if you put yourself in the 'sweet tooth' category, cakes will often offer a bit of respite.
And when it comes to delicious homemade cakes and treats, there's a 'cute' wee bakery in the centre of Edinburgh considered the capital's very best on Trip Advisor.

According to feedback left on the travel review site, Cuckoo's, located on Dundas Street, is the top-rated bakery in town. Meanwhile, they also have a branch on Bruntsfield Place too.
From just shy of 450 reviews, 328 have rated it as 'excellent', giving it an average rating of 4.5 out of 5.
Self-described as 'Edinburgh's most innovative cake bakery', they say they serve up the capital's 'quirkiest' cakes.
But why do customers keep coming back to this place and what separates Cuckoo's from the rest?
A series of reviews suggest its all about their 'beautiful' homemade cupcakes.
One recent visitor said: "Ordered some cupcakes for my husband's 30th whilst in Edinburgh. The reviews certainly lived up to our expectations; definitely the best cupcakes we have ever had! Well worth a visit in you are in the area."
Another customer had a similar experience and commented: "My daughter was absolutely delighted with the cupcakes we ordered for her birthday. The gift packaging and card were beautiful, the cupcakes looked delicious and they arrived early on the day of her birthday. Can’t recommend them enough."
And one person even went a step further to describe their sweet treats as 'possibly the best cupcake ever', adding: "The Nutella cheesecake cupcake is a game changer.
"You need to visit this place at least once in your lifetime."
Many people say service with a smile is one of the key factors that keeps so many people coming back, with one person commenting: "Amazing customer service from Thomas and team.
"Ordered a cake for a party which was cancelled, cuckoos arranged cake for a different date and have bee fantastic in their communication and amazing cake delivered instead of original."
And despite an 'incredible selection' of different bakes and sweet treats, it's clear the cupcakes are the main reason this bakery finds itself as Edinburgh's top-rated bakery.
One person summed up the love for Cuckoo's by claiming they bake 'the best cupcakes in the UK' and said: "The cutest little cafe with the most amazing cupcakes.
"Beautiful, tasty, moist and full of flavour, all washed down with gorgeous loose leaf tea!
"Really friendly staff and a quaint atmosphere. Well worth it for your elevenses pit stop!".
We're convinced! It's definitely worth a visit.
