Cristiano Ronaldo finally breaks silence on Man Utd transfer saga to clarify three things

Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected claims he is adamant he wants to leave Manchester United with a fiery post on social media.

The Portugal international rocked the Red Devils at the start of the summer when he announced he wants to join a club competing in the Champions League this coming season. He then failed to travel to Thailand and Australia with his teammates for United's pre-season tour due to personal reasons.

Ronaldo returned to United's Carrington training ground on Tuesday with his agent Jorge Mendes for crunch talks with Erik ten Hag. Sir Alex Ferguson was present at the base, although it is unclear whether the Scot spoke with the 37-year-old.

United want to retain Ronaldo's services for another season, per his contract, and have ruled out selling him to a rival club.

Ronaldo is reportedly sticking to his guns and wants to secure a move elsewhere, although he suggested he isn't as desperate to leave United as has been made out.

A fan post discussing the Ronaldo saga on Instagram prompted a response from the Portugal international - marking the first time he has publicly addressed the rumours surrounding him.

The post read: "Jorge Mendes told Manchester United that Cristiano Ronaldo is adamant about leaving, but Mendes left negotiations less than positive that Ronaldo would get his move. Sir Alex Ferguson has intervened. United insist Ronaldo is not for sale."

Ronaldo responded: "Impossible not to talk about me one day. Otherwise, the press makes no money. You know that if you don't lie you can't get people's attention. Keep going that one day you got some news right."

United are yet to receive an offer for Ronaldo, with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid ruling themselves out of the running.
