Count Cowboys superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons among those on the Brock Purdy bandwagon.
Parsons in the first episode of his podcast ‘The Edge’ brought up Purdy while recapping some of the story lines from around Week 1 of the NFL season. The LB had nothing but good things to say about San Francisco’s signal caller, and he’s ready to put him in elite company with some of the NFL’s other top QBs.

Yes, he came in late in that season and won six straight games, and took them to the NFC championship before his injury. But, Purdy, you will not be slept on no more, brother. I think people are coming for you the same way they come for (Jets QB Aaron) Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes. Yes, you’re surrounded by a great team, but you are playing your butt off and you’ve got one hell of a story, brother.”
Purdy went 19-of-29 for 220 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the 30-7 win. That moved him to 6-0 as a starter and he became the first QB in NFL history to have a QB rating of 95.0 or better in each of his first six starts.
While some critics point to a small sample size, Parsons, whose team was knocked out by Purdy and the 49ers in the divisional round of last year’s playoffs, believes the final pick of the 2022 draft is already in the top half of NFL QBs.
“I think Purdy’s a top-15 quarterback,” Parsons said. “There’s things that we still wanna see from Purdy. Not when Purdy’s winning but when Purdy’s down. I think the adversity aspect of the football game is huge. Learning how to play from behind. Learning situational football. It’s not something I’m saying he can’t do, it’s just something that we just haven’t seen yet.”
Part of the reason the 49ers haven’t been in that situation though is because of how well Purdy has played. They regularly get out to leads and get the game script on their side.
If San Francisco continues putting up north of 30 points per game with Purdy as its QB, Parsons won’t be the only one putting Purdy in the top-15 conversation.
