Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon set out a new plan for dealing with Covid in Scotland where she revealed that all of Scotland’s legal Covid restrictions will stop on 21 March.
Ms Sturgeon said however that Scots should continue to self-isolate should they test positive for Covid, for the moment.
This comes following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement that Covid rules in England will be scrapped, a move which has proved to be highly contentious.
Health secretary Sajid Javid said that in light of the news, people still need to remain “cautious and vigilant.”
He told Sky News: “Covid is still out there. We may be done with Covid, but it is certainly not done with us.”
Changes to the rules include an end to mandatory self-isolation for anyone testing positive in England, with people instead being told to exercise “personal responsibility” from Thursday.
From 1 April, free universal Covid testing will also end.
In other news, the Queen has cancelled planned virtual engagements today as she is too unwell and suffering from mild Covid symptoms, Buckingham Palace said.
