The number of deaths involving coronavirus registered each week in England and Wales has jumped to its highest level since mid-February. A total of 780 deaths registered in the seven days to March 25 mentioned Covid-19 on the death certificate, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
This is up 14% on the previous week and follows several weeks where deaths appeared to have levelled off. The latest figures could signal the start of a new upwards trend.
