POP-country star Keith Urban will kick-off the Australian leg of his High and Alive World Tour in Newcastle next year.
The 56-year-old returns to the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, August 13 with support from American country singer-songwriter Chase Matthew.
It's been less than two years since Urban was last in town when he performed in front of a healthy Broadmeadow crowd.
"For two hours Urban strutted, sang and tore up the Broadmeadow venue in a scintillating performance, which proved the 55-year-old is fitter than some men half his age," the Newcastle Herald reported.
"Say what you want about Urban's radio-friendly pop-country sound, the man is a genuine showman.
"He had the packed audience eating out of the palm of his hand."
Urban is preparing to release his 12th studio album, High, on September 20. The album features the singles Straight Line, Messed Up As Me, Wildside and his duet Go Home W U with US star Lainey Wilson.
The Newcastle show will be followed by concerts at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (August 15 and 16), Wollongong's WIN Entertainment Centre (August 20), Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena (August 22 and 23), Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena (August 25 and 26) and Adelaide Entertainment Centre (August 28).
Tickets are on sale from 1pm on September 13.
