Coronation Street viewers were a little divided over dramatic scenes on Friday night, as Gary Windass' killer past finally exploded.
With it teased his storyline, that began in 2019, would come full circle, it was thought he would finally face punishment for killing Rick Neelan.
His involvement in the death of Rana Habeeb during the factory roof collapse was also still covered up.
A rooftop showdown involving Kelly Neelan and Gary was hotly tipped to be the moment Gary faced up to his crimes, with it also teased he could be killed off.
But as the episode panned out, Gary once again got away with his crimes and lived to see another day.
Instead, Rick's daughter Kelly fled Weatherfield, after her plan to have Gary killed backfired and left her own life on the line - as well as that of her partner Aadi Alahan.
Kelly was kidnapped by former associates of her villainous dad Rick, after she hired them to kill Gary.
She was taken to a disused mill and led up on to the roof, where she learned Kieron's own plan to kill her and frame her for Gary's murder.
Suddenly Gary appeared, having tracked her down with the help of Aadi, and begged them to kill him instead of Kelly,
Just as he fired the gun at Kelly though, her boyfriend Aadi appeared and shielded her from the bullet, running into its path.
As Kieron and has pal realised their plan was thwarted they ran off, leaving Aadi dying on the ground.
Back on the cobbles, Kelly confronted Gary and his partner Maria about their lies concerning Rick and Laura, and soon decided she needed to flee for good.
But despite revealing she would expose Gary, she soon shocked him when she admitted she hadn't actually told the police the truth - and had no plans to do this.
Packing her things, Kelly had a heart-to-heart with Gary as she admitted she couldn't forgive him, and needed to get away from the memories of her dad.
As she walked away, viewers took to Twitter to share their frustration that Gary managed to avoid getting caught once more.
One viewer tweeted: "OMG so after all that, once again totally blowing up multiple lives once Gary somehow manages to walk away totally scot-free while Kelly's made out to be the bad guy? At least in Dev's eyes really? It's all ready been 3 years since Rick, not to mention poro innocent Rana."
A second said: "So after all that Gary gets away with everything, no justice for Rana. Very disappointed," as a third wrote: "Gary needs to be arrested for causing rana’s death."
Another fan tweeted: "So after dragging out this storyline, forever... Gary got away with everything?" while a fifth wrote: "Gary Windass avoids prison yet again."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
