Coronation Street ’s Ken Barlow will find himself in deep water next month when former flame Martha Frazer sails back into his life on her canal barge.
Acclaimed actress Stephanie Beacham is set to reprise her role as femme fatale Martha 13 years after a brief fling with Ken almost resulted in him leaving his wife Deirdre.
Having recently rekindled his relationship with another of his ex-lovers, Wendy Popadopulous, Ken is stunned when Martha arrives to help out with the Weatherfield Players Am Dram production.
Despite his burgeoning feelings for Wendy, it’s not long before his head is turned once more by the exotic charms of actress Martha, and yet again, the octogenarian lothario finds himself in a classic soap love triangle.
William Roache said: “I was delighted when Wendy came back into Ken’s life. I love that the writers are drawing on the rich history of Ken’s life to come up with these stories.
"When I found out that Martha was also going to make a return I was thrilled, but I fear heartache may be round the corner once more for Ken now he has found himself in another love triangle.”
Stephanie Beacham said: “I am delighted that Martha has returned to Weatherfield. It is an absolute joy to be working with Bill again.”
Martha will arrive in Weatherfield on November 23rd.
Stephanie's character Martha enjoyed a five month stint on the show from January to May 2009.
When Martha was last seen on screens, she declared her love for Ken Barlow and begged him to run away with her.
However, Ken left her heartbroken when he decided to go back to Deirdre instead.
Much-love actress is best known for her television roles in the BBC drama Tenko, and for playing Sable Colby in 80s US soaps The Colbys and Dynasty.
After she was nominated for a Golden Globe back in 1989, Stephanie has since undertaken more work in the UK, starring in Bad Girls and Trollied.
The actress has also guest starred in Casualty and Death In Paradise.
