Coronation Street's Ryan Connor left 'scared' as outburst risks Justin's trial after unlikely 'spy'

Coronation Street's Ryan Connor set to be 'scared' as his unexpected outburst could risk the outcome of stalker Justin Rutherford's trial. The DJ, played by actor Ryan Prescott, is set to come face-to-face with his attacker after being doused in acid in scenes aired on the ITV soap in March.

Ryan was left with burns to his face and arm after he stepped in and took the brunt of the acid hurled at ex-Daisy Midgeley by her stalker Justin on her wedding day in horrifying scenes. He then suffered a blow when he looked at his injuries for the first time and was told by the surgeon that he was not healing as they had hoped and he needed a skin graft.

While in the hospital, Ryan was also left crushed when his ex-girlfriend Alya Nazir told him that she only wanted to be friends. And in an attempt to give him a boost Daisy invited Ryan's Ibiza club promoter friend Crystal to see him, but she later told Daisy that she no longer had a job in the offing for him, and wasn't interested in him romantically either.

Already feeling guilty over the attack, viewers have since seen Daisy has since been messaging Ryan pretending to be Crystal. Last week, Corrie viewers watched as Ryan, alone in the flat, was overcome by a wave of pain and unable to go out as planned, instinctively called Crystal. But it was Daisy who later came to his rescue when he fell ill and later told he had contracted sepsis.

Speaking about how he thinks Ryan would feel to know it's Daisy behind the messages from 'Crystal', Manchester actor Ryan said: "The thing is, Ryan has had such an intimate back-and-forth over the past month or so with ‘Crystal’ that he is genuinely starting to believe that in a different world, in a different time or somewhere down the line that there might be something there with her because they have developed an actual relationship.

"There has been a lot of natural chemistry between them and Ryan is finding joy in investing in their relationship. So to find out that it’s been Daisy the whole time would make him feel humiliated because he has been very raw and ‘himself’ with this person.

"He would feel so deceived because it’s such a huge lie to play for such a long time so he would feel like he was a toy and that he’s a game to Daisy. He would feel an explosion of contempt for Daisy because he feels like he has lost Crystal and Daisy in one fell swoop."

But aside from Crystal, Ryan looks set to risk Justin facing the consequences of his actions when he lashes out at Daisy in front of an unexpected 'spy'. In scenes to air later this month, Justin’s sister, Karen, calls at the Rovers, telling Daisy how sorry she is for Justin’s attack and how she hopes he’ll be sent down.

But Ryan and Carla Connor are appalled to see Justin’s sister in the pub and a row soon ensues. Throwing insults, Ryan reminds Daisy how she went out of her way to split him up from Alya. Later, as Ryan leaves for court, Karen admits that she passed on what she gleaned about Daisy’s history of manipulation, to Justin’s lawyer and Ryan lets himself back into Street Cars flat, too distressed to face the trial.

"After everything that has happened, the court case is the final straw that breaks the camel’s back," Ryan said of the distress Karen's actions cause for his character. "But Ryan is willing to push himself through it until he finds out that Karen has used what he has said about Daisy against them both. He said what he said in spite and due to having a little bit of animosity towards Daisy. Obviously Karen is there to witness this and so now, not only is Ryan feeling scared and out of control, he now feels like a fool."
