Former Rangers striker Gordon Dalziel shut down claims that Connor Goldson is "holding Rangers to ransom".
And the pundit also bristled at the notion that the centre-back cost the Ibrox side Europa League glory in Seville.
The defender is set to become a free agent after lifting the Scottish Cup at Hampden.
Question marks remain over where his next step will be, with many predicting a return England is on the cards.
And fuming Clyde 1 Superscoreboard caller Grant was keen to see him go as soon as possible as he unleashed on the Rangers star.
He said: "I had to phone in when I heard you guys talking about Connor Goldson. I'm sorry, I just don't see it. I'm glad he is leaving.
"The bottom line is he lost Rangers the Europa League final.
"One on one defending, and he turns round and looks at Bassey as if he is like 'what is happening here?'
"I think he is worth a goal down to every team every time he plays for us. I don't see this big centre back that you are all talking about.
"I don't think it's a loss to Rangers."
Dalziel wasn't having it at all as he responded: "Nonsense. He's been a massive player for them.
"Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't agree that Connor Goldson cost Rangers the Europa League.
"If you strip it right back you are thinking 'why is Scott Wright letting the cross come in?' - when the cross comes in does Connor Goldson deal with it? Yes I think he should, but it's 1-1.
"Connor Goldson did not cost Rangers the Europa League and I think that's a very unfair statement."
Grant went on: "For me he has led Rangers to ransom. I am club first, player second."
Before Dalziel interjected: "Because he hasn't signed a new deal he has held the club to ransom?"
The caller quickly bit back: "Let me finish what I've got to say. I don't see Connor Goldson as this big centre-back you keep going on about. We have got Helander, I would keep Balogun for another year, and we have Souttar coming in. If Bassey stays that is four excellent centre-backs."
Dalziel shut down the conversation, finally stating: 'Where I've got a problem is I think you are being unfair is that you are saying Connor Goldson lost Rangers the Europa League final and that is total nonsense."
