Connor Barron could be the next big-money move out of Aberdeen with his contract expiring at the end of next season.
But Dons chairman Dave Cormack says the club are doing everything to ensure they’re not caught short either way. Midfielder Barron, 20, holds all the aces in discussions on a new deal after attracting plenty of admirers. Cormack said: “It all comes down to whether Connor sees his future at Aberdeen beyond the two years he has left.
“We’ve made a significant offer to the player to stay with Aberdeen but we’re not in control of that situation. He and his agent are in control. But it is incumbent on us – and we’ve expanded our recruitment team – to expand our conveyor belt.” The Reds pulled in more than £8.5million in the summer as they sold Calvin Ramsay to Liverpool and Lewis Ferguson to Bologna.
Cormack said: “I would argue it was the right time for Calvin and Lewis to move on. And I would argue we have the right squad and age profile in place with the club’s model.”
