The Indianapolis Colts signed defensive end Derek Rivers to the practice squad, the team announced Thursday.
A third-round pick by the New England Patriots in the 2017 NFL draft, Rivers spent four seasons with the team that drafted him. He also spent time with the Los Angeles Rams (2020) and Houston Texans (2021-2023).
In 24 career games (one start), Rivers has recorded, 16 tackles (11 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and seven quarterback hits.
Rivers missed the entire 2022 season due to a torn biceps and has spent the majority of the 2023 season on the Texans practice squad. He has not seen game action since the 2021 campaign.
