Colts RG Will Fries exits game vs. Jaguars with injury

Indianapolis Colts right guard Will Fries exited Sunday’s game in Jacksonville with an injury.

Fries did have to get carted off the field. On the radio broadcast, they did say that Fries did give a thumbs up and that he also had an air-cast around his right lower leg.

The Colts ruled Fries out for the remainder of the game. Larra Overton on the radio broadcast would specify that it is a shin injury.

The injury occurred during a second-and-one run by running back Trey Sermon. Taking over for Fries at right guard was undrafted rookie Dalton Tucker.

Fries, a former seventh-round pick by the Colts in 2021, was putting together a very good season. According to PFF’s metrics, Fries has surrendered just five pressures this season and only one sack, ranking 21st out of 70 guards in pass-blocking efficiency.

In the run game, Fries ranked fifth among all guards in PFF’s run-blocking grade.

Collectively, the play of the offensive line this season for the Colts has provided some needed stability on the offensive side of the ball that overall has experienced some ups and downs.
