DMK's official mouthpiece Murasoli has published a sharply worded editorial targeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay after actress Trisha was seated in the front row at the state's Independence Day celebrations and was seen exchanging salutes with the CM at the event held at Fort St. George on 15 August.
The editorial, published today, questioned whether Vijay had any sense of shame or embarrassment over the optics of the occasion.

Vijay hoisted the national flag at the Independence Day function in Chennai on 15 August. Trisha was present at the event and was seated in the front row. Photographs and visuals from the function showed the two exchanging salutes, which quickly drew attention on social media and in political circles.
What Did Murasoli Say About CM Vijay?
In its editorial, Murasoli wrote that Vijay's honour flew in the wind on Independence Day. It said he seated an actress in the front row without any shame or hesitation, and that the sight of the two exchanging salutes was something even those who had voted for him could not stomach.
The editorial said Vijay belongs to a category of people who commit acts of indecency openly and then attempt to justify them.
It questioned directly: "An actress was brought to the Independence Day event and saluted. Even Vijay's own fans could not accept this. How will the public accept it?"

The editorial also took aim at Vijay's political standing, saying that within just three months of taking office, he had already begun to fear whether his influence and position would last. It said his own speech at the event had betrayed that anxiety.
Murasoli further noted that while Independence Day is traditionally a moment when media covers the history of the freedom struggle, this year it found itself instead tracking how many times Vijay and the actress had appeared together in public. The editorial said the count stood at five joint public appearances so far.
DMK Attack on CM Vijay
The Murasoli editorial is notable because DMK is in direct political opposition to Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which came to power in Tamil Nadu earlier this year. The party's official publication choosing to run a front-page editorial on this specific episode signals how DMK intends to frame Vijay's early months in office to voters.
Vijay and his party have not responded publicly to the editorial at the time of writing.
