NEW DELHI: In what could be unprecedented in Indian football, a sitting chief minister has formally requested the All India Football Federation to waive off relegation of two clubs from his state due to year-long ethnic violence and unrest in his area.
In a March 8, 2024 letter addressed to AIFF president, Kalyan Chaubey, a copy of which is with TOI, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh wrote seeking retaining TRAU FC and NEROCA FC from the I-League First Division.
