CM Arvind Kejriwal inaugurates 'lighthouse' in Old Delhi's Matia Mahal

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated a 'lighthouse' in Matia Mahal, on Tuesday. He emphasised that more such centers will be established throughout the national capital.

The Matia Mahal center's expenses will be covered by the Dell Foundation, while the Lighthouse Foundation will oversee skill development initiatives, as stated by the CM.

According to the Lighthouse Foundation website, a "lighthouse" serves as a hub for implementing sustainable livelihood programs for underprivileged urban youth.

During the inauguration, Kejriwal discussed the state of the economy and the increasing unemployment rate to underscore the importance of these centers.

"Currently, the most significant challenge is providing employment opportunities for our youth. Simultaneously, the country's economy is facing gradual deterioration. Data reveals that approximately 12 lakh high net worth individuals have emigrated from India in recent years," Kejriwal noted.

Initially planning for four lighthouses, Kejriwal announced an expanded vision, saying, "Now, we have decided to establish several of them across the city. We can repurpose underutilized community centers to create these lighthouses."
