Club president issues defiant transfer stance on striker linked with Liverpool

Rennes club president has given a firm answer to a question over the the future of Liverpool-linked striker Martin Terrier.

A report in The Mirror earlier this month claimed that the Reds are exploring a host of possible candidates as replacement for Sadio Mane should he leave the club. Bayern Munich have seen two bids swiftly rejected by Liverpool for the Senegalese, with a summer exit looking increasingly likely.

As a result, a host of players have been linked with Liverpool as a possible replacement. One of those is Terrier. It has been claimed that Liverpool are tracking Terrier with a view to a possible move. Terrier only moved to Rennes last summer, when the French club paid £10million for his services.

Despite the recent links with Liverpool, Rennes executive president Olivier Cloarec has issued a defiant response to suggestions that Terrier could leave the club this summer.

“Today, there is not even a Martin Terrier situation,” Cloarec told TVR . “He wants to stay at Stade Rennais and we are very happy with him.

“We want to keep him, so there is no subject (to discuss).”
