Clayface will save some secrets for the theaters it seems. The new Mike Flanagan-written horror movie will be the latest release for DC Studios as it introduces Matt Hagen, a Hollywood actor who descends into a horrifying monster.
The first trailer for the film promised plenty of body horror and scares as we caught a glimpse of what Clayface will look like. However, we won't be getting much more than this it seems before the movie is out in theaters.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was confirmed that the James Watkins-directed movie will follow in the footsteps of Longlegs and The Wolf Man by holding back the full monster.
"You don't want to show the shark," Watkins said, referencing Jaws' approach. "I think people give away too much… I believe in the power of mystery and the power of suggestion and the power of people putting two and two together. I think it's more fun."
However, the actor behind the Batman villain Tom Rhys Harries did tease his reaction to how Clayface looks – and it sounds pretty thrilling. "It's been a year since I saw that thing being built out. I can't wait for people to see it," he added to EW. "I'm constantly in awe of the huge creative machinery that goes into making a film like this, and how talented everybody on board is, and how lucky I felt to be a part of that in any way."
