ITV's Christine Lampard halts Lorraine for 'serious' update as co-star wade in

Christine Lampard looked in shock as she brought Lorraine to a brief standstill on Friday, to deliver some breaking news in dramatic fashion to viewers at home.

With Lorraine Kelly absent, Loose Women anchor Christine was at the helm of the early morning ITV show, as it aired its fifth and final episode of the week; being joined by guests including Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison and the programme's resident fashion expert, Mark Hayes.

And, just as Lorraine returned from its last ad break and right before she chatted to Mark about the summer's must have trends, Christine called a halt to proceedings to deliver some news to those watching at home. As dramatic, news bulletin style music played out, the front page of a national newspaper flashed up on screen, carrying the headline 'We've been eating our Weetabix all WRONG'.'

Elaborating and adopting a serious tone, Christine said: "Some serious cereal news this morning everybody and apparently we have all been eating Weetabix wrong! Seriously!" She continued: "The makers have said we should be putting the milk in the bowl first, then adding the Weetabix in on top of the milk. This makes it stay crunchier and crispier for longer."

The presenter then added: "I know you're all sitting at home in shock at this news," before, sitting next to her, Mark reacted: "This is serious breaking news, but it's not for me as I've got vivid memories of a teenager of pouring the milk and it going all over my school uniform."

Nark then demonstrated the 'correct' technique of preparing Weetabix, to which Christine remarked: "It just floats and then delicately sits in the bottom without any splashing.. Who knew? We do bring you the best stories."
