Chris Sutton fillets Rangers 'passengers' as Alfredo Morelos branded 'a disgrace'

Chris Sutton has savaged Alfredo Morelos as an "absolute disgrace" after Celtic's Scottish Cup semi-final win over Rangers.

The former Parkhead striker hammered Morelos' showing at the national stadium as he insisted there were "passengers" in the Ibrox side.

And Sutton claimed Morelos looked "overweight" in the semi-final as he questioned his fitness amid his scathing criticism.

Speaking on Viaplay after the match, Sutton bluntly said: "We'll probably hear the Rangers players come out tomorrow and say that we will see the real Rangers in the final [derby] game of the season which essentially doesn't matter.

"All this closing the gap stuff, there's no closing the gap cup, it's a huge, huge summer for Rangers.

"There were passengers today, Michael Beale has hung his hat on Alfredo Morelos and over the years has been a good Rangers player, but he's been an absolute disgrace.

"He looks overweight and when you are carrying someone like that and Michael Beale should have hooked him earlier.  It's a massive problem.

"Then you have Sakala and Matondo who you don't know what you will get from them."

Morelos was eventually subbed off eight minutes from the end when he was replaced by Ianis Hagi.

It comes as Beale conceded the loss to Celtic could be final Hampden appearances for Ryan Kent and Morelos.

The pair are out of contract in the summer and Beale hinted they could move on.

Quizzed on whether they had made their final bows as Rangers players at Hampden, he said: "Possibly, yes."
