Chris de Burgh has hit out at 'rogues' claiming to be him in an emerging online scam.
The singer urged his fan to be careful after a number of scam messages croppped up online. The Irish Mirror reports that fraudsters claiming to be the star are offering fans meet and greets in exchange for money.
Chris stressed that he rarely replies to messages on Facebook and described the people responsible as 'criminals' and 'rogues.' He urged fans to stay alert following the fraudulent messages.

The 74-year-old wrote: "Just to remind you to be very careful about responding to people who claim to be me. I will never reply or request a response on Facebook, and will only write back occasionally on Facebook Messenger."
People wrote underneath they had received the messages Chris described, some on a daily basis. The vast majority of fans reported or ignored the attempted scam.
The news emerges as fraudsters continue to target eFlow account holders in Ireland. RTE broadcaster Sarah McInerney recently admitted she had fallen victim to the scam by handing over her bank details via an online link.
