A chilling note left at the scene where a 10-year-old boy was found dead at his school has horrifying implications.
The local community was left in shock after a year five student died at his school in Wollongong, Australia on Wednesday.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics who desperately rushed to the scene to try and save him he tragically died.
A note was also found at the scene, raising fears the youngster may have taken his own life, although its contents have not been made public.
It's thought no other classmates or schoolchildren witnessed what happened.
It is understood that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A spokesman for the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong reportedly said “comprehensive support” and counselling would be provided following the tragedy.
They added: “Local police and health services have provided significant assistance, and there is ongoing liaison with the Department of Education."
It's understood emergency service workers struggled to come to terms with what they had seen, The Daily Telegraph reported.
New South Wales Police told the Daily Mirror they would not comment due to the nature of the incident.
Professor Ian Hickie, executive director of the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Research Institute and a leading voice of mental health said the local communities would need to pull together to help one another get through the tragedy.
He added that the Covid pandemic had left a “huge impact on children’s mental health”.
