Chilling list of weapons found on prison wing after inmate stabbed to death

Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a prisoner recovered 22 weapons on the troubled Valentines Green wing of HMP Altcourse, a jury heard.

Extensive searches were carried out at the G4S run Fazakerley jai l after 35-year-old Darren Ashcroft was attacked on November 14, 2014, by fellow inmate Keir Michael - described in court today as a "lethal threat".

Michael had stabbed Mr Ashcroft's cellmate in the face before plunging a metal spike into the victim's chest.
