The Kansas City Chiefs moved their training camp practice indoors on Wednesday due to inclement weather.
Typically, a little passing rain wouldn’t cause the Chiefs’ practice to move inside, but this storm was accompanied by lightning in the area. For safety concerns, the team moves inside when there is lightning. If the weather clears up it is possible that they move practice back outside, but it’s also possible that they choose to finish the day inside.
When the team moves inside, practice is closed to the public. Fans are not permitted to view the practice session because the Missouri Western State University indoor facility — while very nice — is not made to accommodate large droves of fans.
The Chiefs don’t always move practice indoors when there is bad weather in the area. Earlier in training camp, there was some light rain and wet conditions and the team continued to practice outdoors. Andy Reid is partial to doing that because it gives his players a chance to work in the elements they might have to play in during the course of the season.
The team typically honors training camp tickets on a different day as a makeup date, and we’ll keep you posted if that happens.
