Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has officially earned his fifth career AFC Offensive Player of the Month honor. He has earned an AFC Offensive Player of the Month award every year since entering the league and is the only player to earn a monthly award in each of the last five seasons.

Mahomes has now garnered AFC monthly honors in September 2018, September 2019, November 2020, December 2021 and November 2022. It’s the most monthly awards owned by a player in Chiefs franchise history.

His latest monthly award comes after Mahomes led the NFL in Weeks 9-12 in completions (116), passing yards (1,426) and touchdown passes (9). He’s passed for over 300 yards in each game in the month of November and K.C. is undefeated in those four games.

It doesn’t hurt that Mahomes continues to stamp his name in NFL history books with each passing game, most recently passing Hall of Famers Dan Marino for the most career 300-yard games in a player’s first six seasons and Ken Stabler for the most wins by a quarterback in their first 75 career starts.

Mahomes is now tied with Drew Brees (5) for the fourth-most monthly awards by a quarterback since 2000. Only Tom Brady (11), Aaron Rodgers (10) and Peyton Manning (8) have more awards since 2000. Along with Brady and Rodgers, Mahomes is the only other active quarterback with five or more monthly awards. Keep in mind that this is just Mahomes’ fifth season as a starter.
