Chiefs open as favorites over Raiders in Week 5

For the fifth consecutive week, the Kansas City Chiefs have opened as a favorite to come away with a victory. This time they’re returning home to face the Las Vegas Raiders on “Monday Night Football.”

According to Tipico Sportsbook, Kansas City (3-1) are 7.5-point favorites over Las Vegas (1-3). The over/under point total is set at 50.5 points scored. The money line is now -320 for the Chiefs, giving K.C. a 76.19% implied win probability. Keep in mind this Kansas City team is now 2-2 against the spread this season and they’re also 2-2 on the over/under point total.

It’s not terribly shocking to see the Chiefs as favorites to win over their AFC West rivals when playing at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. It’s going to take a monumental loss for this team to not be favored at home any time this season. After a big win over the league’s No. 1 scoring defense, it’s hardly surprising to see them favored.

The Raiders are coming into the game with some momentum after winning their first game of the season in Week 4. That said, they’ve lost their last three consecutive games to Kansas City, with the Chiefs outscoring Las Vegas 124-54 in those three games. Have they made enough improvements to put up a better fight this week?

There could be some extra motivation for Las Vegas this week for new head coach Josh McDaniels too. He slayed some demons by defeating his former employer in the Broncos last week. The last game he lost before getting fired by Denver in 2010 came against Kansas City.
