The Kansas City Chiefs picked up a gritty victory on the road Sunday over the Jacksonville Jaguars, tallying their first win of the young season. The game marked the return of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce after he missed Week 1 with a hyperextended knee injury.
Kelce was emotional throughout the game, earning two penalties for his antics, including a brief scuffle with Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed Kelce’s fiery attitude throughout the game during his Zoom press conference on Monday.

He was getting ‘butched,’ we call it where they try to bang you up there one way or another. And, you know, he’s trying to get back in the flow. And so he is a perfectionist, this guy.
“And you know, if he feels these off a tick, then he’s going to try to battle through, he gets himself in the right mindset to keep fighting through it, and he did. You gotta give him credit. He battled through the thing. He made some big catches for us, and he made it through the game after missing the first one, so I’m sure his leg probably didn’t feel 100%. But he’s not gonna let you know that. And he’s gonna work through it. That’s what he did.”
Kelce finished Sunday’s game by catching four passes for 26 yards and a touchdown, steadily gaining confidence in his knee strength for the long season.
