Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke about DE Charles Omenihu’s return from suspension

The beginning of preparation for the Kansas City Chiefs Week 7 opponent is getting underway following the short layoff after Thursday Night’s victory over the Denver Broncos. The defense has played well this season and will have a veteran pass rusher returning to the lineup in their battle with the Los Angeles Chargers.

During his weekly Zoom press conference, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke about the return of defensive end Charles Omenihu to the team following a six-game suspension.

“Yeah, so listen, I think the front’s done a real nice job with pressure and hitting the quarterback; they’ve done a pretty good job with the run game, likewise,” Reid explained. “Charles (Omenihu) is in there, who is a good football player to the mix. I’m looking forward to seeing him get in there. I don’t know if he’s gonna be able to step right in and play the whole game. One of those things, I think we just ease him back in and let him get going there. See how he does.”

The league suspended Omenihu after being arrested in January for misdemeanor domestic violence. He played in the preseason and competed in training camp, so there isn’t expected to be too much of a disconnect from the system.
