Chiefs HC Andy Reid praised WR Rashee Rice’s relentless work ethic

The Kansas City Chiefs pushed through the dreadful conditions at Arrowhead Stadium to dominate a talented Miami Dolphins team in the Wild Card round Saturday. The cold weather didn’t affect the offense; it seemed warm, and the ball moved down the field regularly.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was proud of his players on both sides of the ball and expressed it openly in his post-game comments to the media. He highlighted the fantastic play of rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice.

“We were hoping that he was as good as we saw at SMU, and I’ll tell you the best part about him is that he just keeps working,” Reid explained. “I mean, he’s relentless with that, and he’s got a good relationship, he’s got Pat’s (Patrick Mahomes) respect, and he wants to do it the right way. I know how many times I’ve stood up in front of you we’re this close with him. He’s getting better every week. So I think we’ve seen that the last four, five games.”

Rice’s performance set the new franchise rookie playoff record for yards in a game, finishing with eight catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. He has immediately taken the reigns as the team’s primary wide receiver.
