Chelsea Women are set to sign American forward Mia Fishel, in a deal that will make her one of the most expensive players in the history of women’s football.
The Blues have agreed to spend £200,000 to buy the 22-year-old from Mexican giants Tigres.
Fishel will become the eighth major summer signing for Chelsea, as Emma Hayes bid to build a squad to win the Champions League for the first time.
Chelsea have signed Fishel to strengthen their forward line following the departure of Pernille Harder to Bayern Munich, who was the most expensive striker signing in the history of the women’s team.
Fishel is not in the USWNT squad at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand but she is pushing to earn her first international cap.
Chelsea have already signed Catalina Macario, Ashley Lawrence and Sjoeke Nusken this summer and part of a huge recruitment drive.
The most expensive player the history of women’s football is Lionesses star Keira Walsh, who joined Barcelona from Manchester City for £400,000 last year.
