Arsenal are eyeing a shock approach for Chelsea midfield star Mason Mount in the coming summer transfer window, according to a report from GOAL. The 24-year-old is approaching the final 12-months of his contract at Stamford Bridge, opening up the possibility of a switch.
The Gunners are said to have held initial talks over the England international's availability, with Liverpool and Manchester United also linked with a switch. It could see Mikel Arteta finally get revenge for missing out on Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk in the January window.
The youngster was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but a deal wasn't agreed upon with Shakhtar Donetsk. The Blues then swooped in to secure a deal in a transfer saga that took the whole world by storm, and forced Arsenal to look elsewhere in the market.

Their ability to find alternatives in the market has certainly helped their title push as they signed Leandro Trossard instead, while also signing Oleksandr Zinchenko when losing out on Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United and Jorginho when they couldn't prise Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The midfield will be the next turning point in the summer window for the Gunners in their pursuit of sustained success.
football.london understands the Gunners are interested in a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice heading into the summer market. The Hammers captain finds himself in a similar scenario to Mount, where 12-months remaining on his contract could force through a move.
It remains to be seen whether the north London side will make the shock move for Mount over Rice or both in the same window, but it could be a huge summer if they look to reinforce those central ranks.
