Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount looks emotional as he leaves Stamford Bridge after chance to say goodbye

Mason Mount looked emotional as he left Stamford Bridge after what could be his Chelsea farewell.

The midfielder was not fit to play in the 1-1 draw to Newcastle but joined the rest of the squad when they did a traditional end-of-season lap of appreciation after the match.

Mount came back out onto the pitch once supporters had left and looked emotional as he shared an embrace with a member of the Chelsea backroom staff.

Manchester United and Liverpool are vying for to sign Mount, who looks increasingly likely to leave his boyhood club this summer.

Incoming head coach Mauricio Pochettino has indicated he wants to keep Mount but is yet to exert any influence over his future amid a contract stand-off with Chelsea.

Mount is out of contract at the end of next season and Chelsea are ready to sell him to ensure they receive a transfer fee and do not risk losing him for free next summer.

Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in the England international.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah, Edouard Mendy, Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic were among the Chelsea players who also took part in the lap of appreciation and could have played their last game for the club.
