Chelsea duo star in FIFA 22 TOTY alongside Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne

The FIFA 22 TOTY XI has today been revealed in FIFA Ultimate Team, and two Chelsea players are included after fantastic campaigns last year.

2021 was an incredible year for Chelsea which saw the Blues win the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup, both for the second time in their history after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as manager.

Tuchel's arrival saw the Blues set up in a brand-new formation and become one of the best defensive teams in the world, and their successful season has seen two Chelsea players included in the FIFA 22 TOTY which was revealed on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 3.30pm.

The FUT TOTY is one of the most anticipated releases in the FIFA calendar, where the best 11 players from world football in 2021 are rewarded with permanently upgraded player items, making them some of the best items in the game.

The 11 best players were chosen through a public vote, and the FIFA community have voted for two Chelsea players to make the squad, but two Blues players were surprisingly left out after incredible campaigns in 2021.

Let's take a look at the FIFA 22 TOTY and who made it from the Chelsea squad.

FIFA 22 TOTY XI revealed with two Chelsea stars

The FIFA 22 TOTY in full (EA SPORTS FIFA)
  • GK: Gianluigi Donnaruma (Paris Saint-Germain)
  • RB: Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain)
  • CB: Marqinhos (Paris Saint-Germain)
  • CB: Ruben Dias (Manchester City)
  • LB: Joao Cancelo (Manchester City)
  • CM: Jorginho (Chelsea)
  • CM: N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)
  • CM: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
  • RW: Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain)
  • ST: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
  • ST: Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)

Chelsea midfield duo Jorginho and N'Golo Kante have both made the FIFA 22 TOTY after their fantastic seasons from 2021.

Jorginho had one of the best seasons a player could have in 2021, with the midfielder not only playing a major part in the Blues' European success, but he was also a vital part of the Italy side who won EURO 2020.

In FIFA 22, Jorginho's base player item is rated 85 out of 99, but his TOTY player item has received a huge upgrade, making the midfielder 97 out of 99, the joint third-best player in the team.

In 2021, Jorginho scored 13 goals and grabbed two assists for Chelsea in all competitions, his 10 goal haul in the Premier League his best-ever goalscoring record in a calendar year whilst playing in Europe's top five leagues.

The 30-year-old also made 25 interceptions in midfield for Italy during EURO 2020, the most by a player during a single tournament in the tournament's history.

N'Golo Kante has been one of the world's best midfielders for half a decade, and he deservedly made it into the TOTY with the Frenchman rated 96 out of 99, six ratings higher than his base player item (90).

Kanté averaged 1.8 interceptions per 90 minutes in all competitions for Chelsea in 2021, the best mark of any player with at least 2000 minutes played for the club over that period.

But, it may come as a shock to see Edouard Mendy and Antonio Rudiger both miss out on the starting XI.

Rudiger was reinstated into the Chelsea starting XI when Tuchel arrived at the club and has quickly evolved into one of the best defenders in the world, with the German extremely unlucky to miss out on the TOTY.

And just days after being named FIFA Best men's goalkeeper of the year, Mendy was not included in the FIFA 22 TOTY, with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnaruma being picked ahead of the Senegal international.

Along with Kante and Jorginho, another three players from the Premier League made the FIFA TOTY, with Manchester City trio Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne all included.

Powered by Football, EA SPORTS FIFA 22 brings the game even closer to the real thing with a new season of innovation across every mode and groundbreaking next-gen HyperMotion gameplay technology on PlayStation5 that elevates every moment of the match.
